SUMMARY:I’m a skilled writer, journalist and editor who has covered everything from equestrian competitions to federal criminal trials. Having worked for numerous small publications, I’ve worn many different hats and am experienced in every phase of of the publishing process, from story conception through the proofreading of final pages.

I’m also an Internet veteran (the first version of this website went online in 1995) with experience in basic website design and the management of online discussion communities. I currently write articles and design websites on a freelance basis, and my first book will be published in Spring 2008.

SKILLS:Writing
Produce clean and polished copy with a wry twist, when appropriate. Able to digest complex subject matter and present it clearly to the reader. Detail- and deadline-oriented. Have written a full-length book, opinion and humor columns, news stories, features, profiles, how-to, and promotional materials.
Editing
Twelve years of experience in copyediting, line editing, proofreading, and substantial revision of articles written by a variety of authors. I produce copy that is consistent, correct and accurate.
Website design
Thorough knowledge of basic HTML (I code by hand), including tables, forms and frames. Able to produce simple, functional and attractive websites that can present large quantities of information in an organized and readable fashion.
Online community management
Experience building and managing discussion lists and bulletin board forums. Keen understanding of the way people interact and communicate online, and how those interactions can be harnessed to build cohesive communities and bolster an organization’s online presence.
